A Risk management Tool for Crops
Your crops are your asset. They're your income. Risk continues to be an inevitable part of farming. Crop insurance is purchased by farmers to protect themselves against the loss of their crops due to natural disasters (such as hail, drought, and flooding) or the loss of revenue due to the decline in the prices of agricultural commodities. The two general categories of crop insurance are called crop-yield insurance and crop-revenue insurance.

Various programs include:
- Multi-Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI)
- Livestock Gross Margin for Dairy (LGM)
- Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR)
- Crop Hail
Every year, Steve Van Voorhis attends crop insurance seminars to understand the imminent changes that occur in crop insurance coverages. Steve has been our crop specialist at Farm Country Insurance for over 10 years. Having grown up on his family's farm, he has spent a lifetime in the farming community, and he continues to farm today. Steve has done extensive work with New York's Farm Bureau, as well as the National Corn Growers Association.
